If you are an adult seeking baptism, please click the link to the left that says "RCIA." If you are looking for baptism for your child and he or she is over 7 years old, call the parish office.
If you are looking for baptism for your child 7 years old or younger, a formation class is required regarding Christian parenting and the teaching of the Church about baptism. We offer this every third Saturday in English or Spanish at 5:30 p.m. in the History Room, accessible by the side door of the church near the Polsky Parking Garage. If for some reason you cannot make it you can call such neighbors as Blessed Trinity Parish, St. Paul Parish or Visitation of Mary Parish, attend their class, and bring a certificate from that class to St. Bernard.
A godparent/sponsor assists the parents to bring their child up in the Catholic faith firstly by their own Christian example. Therefore, that person must have been baptized Catholic and have received Eucharist and Confirmation. The godparent must obtain a “sponsor letter” from their parish indicating they are a registered and practicing Catholic. Christians of other denominations may serve as a “Christian Witness” and must also provide evidence of their church membership.
Please contact our Parish Office to register for the pre-baptism class, or if you have any other questions or concerns. Click below for a complete list and explanation of the pre-baptism requirements.
